Root Infestation Identified by CCTV
At Unity Drainage Solutions, we recently carried out drainage works in Helensburgh and Bearsden after customers experienced problems with their drainage systems.
Following an initial clearance, our team used CCTV drain inspection equipment to investigate the inside of the pipe and identify the underlying problem.
The CCTV inspection revealed root infestation within the drainage system, allowing the affected section to be located before specialist removal work was carried out.

Specialist Root Removal Using Picote Equipment
Once the root infestation had been located, we used specialist Picote equipment with root-cutting attachments to remove the roots from inside the drain.
This specialist approach allows the affected pipework to be mechanically cleaned and the roots to be removed without immediately resorting to excavation.

Targeted Drain Unblocking Without Excavation
Root intrusion can cause recurring blockages and restrict the flow of wastewater through drainage pipework.
By locating the problem with CCTV and then using specialist root-cutting equipment, the affected section can be targeted directly.

This approach can, where suitable, save customers the disruption, time and potential expense associated with excavation.
Every drainage system is different, so the appropriate method depends on the condition of the pipework and the nature of the problem.
